Honestly: Healthcare = bullshit.
So I work for a pretty well known big hospital in my area. Working behind the scenes seeing how much $$ actually is exchange between healthcare provider, insurance company and patient. Today, while looking at a particularly LARGE account. ( You could purchase a very, very nice home with the amount this person’s bill has reached, we’ll say, over 100k.) So I poke around, just to see how someone can get so many charges, and have an account so large. ( I’ve seen larger amounts still). So as I poke I see that this hospital charges 7$ an hour for oxygen. For fucking air. 7 fucking dollars for breath.
Fuck the healthcare system in this country. Healthcare providers charge UNREAL amounts of money for procedures. In turn, driving insurance costs up, making the patient pay even more.
7 fucking dollars to breathe. An hour. Fuck that.
That sounds surprisingly reasonable. Making pure, hospital grade, oxygen is a difficult and time consuming process that requires several expensive machines and trained professionals to make sure it doesn’t kill people. 7$/hr is pretty incredible actually.
